The archaeological literature has recently been dominated by DNA studies. This week it's Valdiosera et al. and Hajdinjak et al. The results themselves are critically surveyed by the different groups of authors themselves who are best qualified to pick up and protect against any errors. The important question now, as Callaway rightly points out, is what do those results really mean and how do they fit into our picture of cultural development. Just like in all other cases of assimilating scientific data into cultural topics there will be all kinds of misunderstandings and over interpretations that we have yet to learn how to deal with.
