Marciniak et al.’s title is somewhat misleading. The declining health and wellbeing of the first farmers has long been an accepted fact throughout the literature on the subject. What Marciniak et al. do add to the debate is quite the opposite. According to them a large part of the decline in stature is purely genetic and a result from migration and the residual value that is due to an unbalanced diet among other things much smaller than formerly assumed.
