Not many like to be reminded of it now, but at the time when I had just finished school and was beginning university a large majority of the juste milieu and German zeitgeist were if not huge fans at least ideological supporters of Ulrike Meinhof and her gang of criminals. Not all of course, but those that were make up 90 % of today’s leading politicians and statesmen. So 50 years after the Munich assault is a good time to be reminded of just the kind of thinking that formed our current government.
