With the arbitrary cutoff at some p-factor or other the reader can only totally accept a study as significant or totally reject it. Johnson et al. offer a new way to quantify if and by how much the reader should adapt his prior assumptions. Several studies will add up without conducting a large meta study to push them over the significance level collectively. On the other hand even a statistically significant outcome may only shift preexisting conclusions by a tiny amount.
