The calibration curve with its steps and plateaus creates reproducible artifacts in the summed probability curve. (See the seminal work by Weninger 2011.) Before you can draw any conclusions for population changes you have to correct for these. This step is completely omitted by Kondor et al. Until that gets done their claimed result is without value.

Yes, biological enrichment exists and is a fact. It works on elements and compounds like heavy metals, DDT, and organically bound mercury. But isotopes of the biologically abundant elements carbon and hydrogen like Nogrady claims? Whatever happened to editorial oversight and quality control? Does the term reputable journal still mean anything?
