Contrary to their title and abstract Gottlieb & Mankin say absolutely nothing about human influence. What they demonstrate is a highly nonlinear relationship between snow retention and temperature making the effect of slight temperature changes highly dependent on the absolute temperature where it occurs. If you assume temperature change to be anthropogenic, then that assumption will naturally carry over to the snow thickness. But that’s all there is. The assumption is not tested or discussed, just made.
